Gokmen Space Aviation Training Center (GUHEM), which is brought to Bursa with the cooperation of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality and TUBITAK under the leadership of Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO), which had a postponement of inauguration due to Coronavirus pandemic, will provide a great contribution to raising the interest of space and aviation among the new generation.
While all operations were completed within GUHEM, which was planned to open on April 23 under the leadership of BTSO, the inauguration of the center was postponed to a later time due to the virus pandemic. Stating that the inauguration of GUHEM will be held right after the end of the pandemic, BTSO Chairman Ibrahim Burkay said that the space and aviation sectors have a strategic importance in the transformation of the industry into high-tech production. Emphasizing that the main goal of Gokmen Space Aviation Training Center is to bring a new vision to children in the field of space and aviation, Chairman Burkay reminded that GUHEM, having an architecture which will contribute to the brand value of Bursa, also won an award within the "Public Buildings" category of European Property Awards 2019, which is a competition that votes the best buildings of today and future.
"VISION PROJECT WILL INCREASE THE AWARENESS OF THE NEW GENERATION"
Chairman Burkay emphasized that GUHEM is one of the vision projects put forward by BTSO in 2013 when they took office. Stating that they aim to bring this perspective to children and young people with Gokmen Space Aviation Training Center, Ibrahim Burkay said, “We are proud of bringing a symbolic masterpiece to Bursa together with the Metropolitan Municipality and TUBITAK, which have given great support to our project. This center has a different significance for both Bursa and Turkey. Constructed in Bursa with its qualification as 'Turkey's first space-themed education center', all 154 of the interactive setups having the purpose of space and aviation related education were produced domestically. Through GUHEM, we want to contribute to the sustainable development of our country by creating a structure where new generation technologies are put into use both in production and export".
"THE BEST IN EUROPE"
Noting that, under normal conditions, GUHEM was aimed to open on April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day, Chairman Burkay emphasized that they had to postpone the opening to a later date due to the Coronavirus (Covid-19) epidemic that affected the whole world. Noting that GUHEM will be the best in Europe and among the top 5 in the world, Chairman Burkay said, “As well as its rich content, GUHEM has an architecture that will contribute to the urban identity of Bursa. The most important landmark that will shape the future of Turkey, will be GUHEM".
