Bursa Free Zone
The Bursa Free Zone was established under the leadership of the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry and in co-operation with the business community of Bursa in 1998, aiming at establishing and managing a Free Zone and at creating faster and more competitive import and export capacities for Bursa.
The free zone, which was planned like an industrial zone, started commercial operations in May 2001 on a land of 825.000 m² regarding with the boundary decree number 2000/538 of the cabinet and it took only 11 months to complete the whole infrastructure.
The partitioning of the area has been done in accordance with the needs of the industrialists from the natural gas installation to phone lines and every parcel has access to full structural framework in itself.
Ever since the day of inauguration, it is approaching its goal to become one of the biggest free zones with the highest density of production activities. Bursa Free Zone steps forward every day due to its proximity to Bursa and the most important harbors of the Marmara Sea.
One of the important specialists of the zone is that the manufacturing can be done behind the port and it facilitates the logistic services. Since 2001 the zone has been multiplying its trade volume every year. 180 companies in the zone have obtained activity license from the year 2006 and 124 of these companies obtained licenses for trade activities, whereas 56 companies obtained licenses for manufacturing activities. In the zone, being on a very strategic point for the industry and trade activities, not only the foreign investment, but also the regional economy and employment rate have been increasing day by day.
The Bursa Free Zone is one of the zones that has its own lands among the Free Zones in Turkey. The most important advantages of the zone are being close to the port, to the highway and to the industrial giant, Bursa.
