The automotive firms of Bursa are in Hungary

The automotive firms of Bursa attended bilateral talks in Hungary within the scope of 'Finding Opportunities in the Automotive Industry and Building Bridges Between Turkey and the EU' Project initiated by the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the aim of specializing SMEs operating in the automotive sector, in foreign trade.

Within the scope of Turkey-EU Business Sector Dialogue (TEBD) Bursa automotive companies participated in bilateral talks in the city of Kecskemet, Hungary. Kilis Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KİTSO) Vice Chairman Hüseyin Kopan, KİTSO Board Member Ahmet Murat Toprak and 10 company representatives operating in the automotive sector were among the project partners in the delegation chaired by BTSO Board Member Muhsin Koçaslan.

"TARGET  IN THE TRADE WITH HUNGARY IS 6 BILLION DOLLARS"

The delegation first attended the business forum held at the Bacs Kiskun County Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and met with Attila Gurabi, Head of the Hírös Supplier Automotive Cluster, and representatives of the Hungarian automotive sector. BTSO Board Member Muhsin Koçaslan, speaking at the meeting, said that Turkey and Hungary are friendly nations which have strong historical and cultural ties. Stating that these ties contribute to the development of economic relations between the two countries, Koçaslan said, “Our economic relations have been developing steadily in recent years. The trade volume between our countries has exceeded 2.5 billion dollars. However, we need to do more to reach our target of 6 billion dollars. We've been here with the representatives of our distinguished companies in the automotive sector in order to give a new momentum to our commercial relations with Hungary. We have significant opportunities to collaborate with Hungarian business people. I believe that our visit will lead to important gains for the business world of both countries."

THE SECTOR WILL ACHIEVE COMPLIANCE WITH GLOBAL TRANSFORMATION

Koçaslan, stating that the automotive industry was the largest export sector of Turkey, reported that the sector alone realized 30.5 billion dollars of export the previous year, 17% of the country's total export. Emphasizing that Bursa is also one of the worldwide production centers in the automotive industry, Koçaslan said, “With its developed infrastructure and qualified workforce, Bursa has risen to a competitive position in international markets. With the contributions of BTSO, Bursa has become Turkey's first domestic car production center. The new investments to be made in our city, together with the domestic automobile, will enable our country to catch the global change in the automotive industry."

 INDUSTRIAL MOVE FROM KİLİS

Deputy Chairman of KİTSO Board of Directors Hüseyin Kopan stated that Kilis, which is an important agricultural city, has been making progress in the field of industry recently. Kopan, stating that  production and employment will increase with the new organized industrial zones built in Kilis said "We see 'Finding Opportunities in the Automotive Industry and Building Bridges Between Turkey and the EU' Project as an important opportunity for the development of our international business experience. We would like to thank BTSO Chairman of the Board, Mr. İbrahim Burkay, who helped us take part in this project."

BILATERAL BUSINESS MEETINGS WERE HELD

Following the presentation of good practice examples in the automotive sector by Attila Gurabi, Head of the Automotive Cluster of Hírös Supplier, business meetings were held between the companies of the two countries. The BTSO delegation also attended the meeting hosted by Bacs Kiskun County Chamber of Commerce and Industry Jozsef Gaal within the scope of the visit and visited Mercedes-Benz, Autoflex-Knott, Szimikron and MetAlconstruct companies operating in the city of Kecskemet and examined their production facilities.

SMEs SPECIALIZE IN FOREIGN TRADE

'Finding Opportunities in the Automotive Industry and Building Bridges Between Turkey and the EU' project is carried out by BTSO with the grant obtained through 'Turkey-EU Business Dialogue Program', defined within the frame of the European Union Pre-Accession Assistance Means and sustained with the coordination of TOBB (Turkey Chambers and Stock Exchanges Union) and EUROCHAMBRES (European Chamber Union); with the cooperation of the Polish Chamber of Commerce, Hungary Bacs Kiskun County Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Kilis Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

With the project, it is aimed to specialize SMEs operating in the automotive sector in foreign trade, to raise awareness about entrepreneurship and EU policies, to transfer the best practices of the Polish Chamber of Commerce and Hungary Bacs Kiskun County Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and to provide business opportunities to SMEs in these countries.
