Under the leadership of Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO), Payitaht Bazaar Project opened its doors to public with a magnificent ceremony.
Payitaht Bazaar Shopping Days which is organized by BTSO has started in the District of Inns and Bursa Historical Bazaar which is the first largest bazaar of Ottoman Empire and has witnessed to 7 centuries. Project organized under the leadership of BTSO in cooperation with Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, Governorship of Bursa, Osmangazi Municipality and Union of Inns. Alongside with Mr. Ibrahim Burkay; President of the Board of Directors of BTSO, Mr. Recep Altepe; Mayor of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, Mr. Ibrahim Avcı; Deputy Governor of Bursa, Mr. Mustafa Dündar; Mayor of Osmangazi Municipality, Bursa protocol, committee and Assembly members of BTSO, tradesmen of the Bazaar and citizens attended the opening ceremony of the event.
WE NEED TO KEEP IN STEP WITH THE CHANGE IN THE WORLD
Mr. Ibrahim Burkay; President of the Board of Directors of BTSO said that they intend to revive the Historical Bazaar and District of Inns with Payitaht Bazaar Project. Mr. Burkay mentioned how production and consumption habits are changing with great speed and how they intend to adapt the Historical Bazaar and District of Inns to this change and help it to become the center of attraction. Mr. Burkay highlighted how the 850 thousand square meters area created an opportunity to live both Bursa’s history and shopping culture at the same time.
“SHOPPING DAYS WILL DYNAMISE THIS DISTRICT”
Mr. Ibrahim Burkay mentioned that BTSO was founded 126 years ago by Mr. Osman Fevzi Efendi and his friends in Koza Inn. Mr. Burkay emphasized that businessmen who contribute highly to the city and the country economy were all raised in this area.
Mr. Burkay stated that for the last two years they have provided valuable training to the tradesmen with “Corporate Development Program” which is conducted under the BTSO Academy Project. “We have established “Consumer Confidence Offices” in our bazaars. As BTSO, we will maintain our support to this area which is a close witness to Bursa’s deep rooted history. And through this event, we aim to contribute much to the business life in the district.”
“THE BAZAARS OF BURSA ARE EXAMPLES TO THE WORLD”
Mr. Recep Altepe; Mayor of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality started his speech by stating ‘The more active the Bazaar is, the more active the city will be”. He also said that “We are lucky and honored to serve a city like Bursa. Our goal is to promote our city and its values. If the bazaar is the heart of Bursa then it needs to be well located. For the time being there are 42 associations in the bazaar. The synergy among them is admirable. Bazaars in Bursa are now an example to the world. “Our bazaar’s only competitor is the bazaar itself.” Therefore, I wish that this project will bring luck to our city and our region.”
Mr. İbrahim Avcı; Deputy Governor mentioned that this event will cover a large part of the needs of the city and also thanked everyone who has had part in the organization and has helped in order to achieve this success.
WE NEED TO PROTECT THE SPIRIT OF THE BAZAAR
Mr. Mustafa Dündar; Mayor of Osmangazi Municipality mentioned that as Osmangazi Municipality, they continue the restoration works in the bazaar. “While we were wandering around the bazaar, we had the chance to talk with many friends. The spirit of this city needs to be protected. Our guests who visited Bursa mention how this city relaxes their souls. In order to preserve this spirit, we started off restoration in the bazaar. We made to this day with the morals of ahi-culture. We intend to maintain the philosophy and understanding we have learned from our ancestors. We will continue to provide significant services to this area with the projects we started in cooperation with BTSO.
GRATITUDE FROM THE TRADESMEN OF THE BAZAAR TO BTSO
Mr. Muhsin Özyıldırım; Chairman of Bursa Historical Bazaar and Union of Inns stated how Payitaht Bazaar Project will revive the region. Mr. Muhsin Özyıldırım; specifically thanked to BTSO for starting a Project in their district and the restoration work throughout the bazaar. He also added how the training programs have helped their staff as they could be able to renew themselves and stated that “Keep in mind that, this district is the ultimate address for guests who wish to live, see and get to know Bursa. Every single investment made here means to protect our heritage and future.
